The Concordium of Allied Worlds was a seven solar system alliance formed by various Great Families and major congolmerates in order to strengthen their chances of gaining House status.
Initially beginning as a trading agreement, after many, many years they finally formed a united government and after years of poltical wrangling chose to have Salus as the capital planet.
The Concordium was governed by a Supreme Governor chosen by a panel of Planetary Emissaries and Great Family Representatives. The position of Supreme Governor was a poison chalice as it often proved impossible to govern so many factions looking out for their own needs rather than the greater good.
Systems of the Concordium
Greater Salus - comprising Salus, Dyfarnaid, Gyfraith and Parhau
Furius comprising Furius, Gargantua, Animus and Pietas.
The War of the Seven Suns was the civil war of the Concordium of Allied Worlds, a seven system alliance.
During the Great Slump, the aging Concordium struggled to control its economy. With the currency failing and desperation building, the capital planet Salus imposed martial law over the entire Concordium forcing several systems to react by attempting to overthrow the leadership.
Pax was the first world to rebel against the Salus leadership and several others rallied to its cause. As the conflict began to grow, two factions emerged. Planets loyal to Salus became known as the Fortuna Collective. Forces loyal to Pax became known as the Promise of Securitas.
With much of the surviving wealth contained within the Fortuna Collective, they held the initial advantage over their Securitas rivals. However, Securitas forces were cunning and attacked sporadically and randomly eventually overcoming the financial disadvantage as the superior wealth ran out. As each side grew more desperate, they developed more damaging weapons, the ultimate example being The Dustbowler - a weapon capable of causing irreversible damage to a planet's atmosphere and eco system. This weapon was used just twice - firstly on Icarus Five and then on the Securitas capital world of Pax.
Expecting the destruction of Pax to deliver them a clinical and critical finish to the war, the move unexpectedly backfired on the Fortuna leadership as the civilian populace learned how far their rulers were willing to go. Civil war broke out amonst the Collective itself and surviving members of Securitas selectively aided various elements of the rebellion.
The New Paradigm and the relationship with The Concordat Imperium.Edit
Following the war, the Concordium was effectively split into two territories governed by the Fortuna Collective and the Promise of Securitas. The New Paradigm was officially sanctioned as the new name of the alliance emphasising the change of approach in government.
The Fortuna Collective is governed from the planet Salus which rules over the systems of Greater Salus, Atherton, Furius and Icarus.
The Promise of Securitas is governed from the planet Prudencia in the Nenarius System and governs that system, Arx and Lucius.
The Paradigm sits on the cusp of Imperial space and has officially swore an oath of allegiance to the Soveriegn Emperor. The Salux Pax Cluster is a minor bit part player in Imperial affairs, lacking a family of House status and subsequently has no directorship with The Guild.
